Today we assigned the kids a joint writing project. They were given one sentence to begin with and one rule. Each writer can add one sentence at a time, but has to have two other writers participate before adding another sentence.
Here is the results of a collaboration between Seph, Rose, Em, and Gid.
Once upon a time, there was a man with a sword, a girl in a canoe, and a pumpkin, near a swiftly moving river. The man with the sword was named Harry and the girl in the canoe was named Silhouette. Harry asked Silhouette to marry him. Silhouette said yes, so Harry picked up the pumpkin and put it in the canoe and rowed away with Silhouette. The pumpkin was bewitched and flipped over the canoe. The pumpkin vines wrapped around Silhouette and floated with her down the river. Harry swam after them. Harry suddenly felt very tired, so he climbed out of the river and took a nap by a tree. The bewitched pumpkin was hiding with the girl on the other side of the tree. It wrapped its vines slowly around Harry. Harry woke up and chopped the vines with his sword and saved Silhouette from the bewitched pumpkin. And they all lived happily ever after, except for the pumpkin. Pumpkin Pie!
I think I will use this technique again. A variation on a game we used to play in the car on long trips.
